Esalen massage is the King of relaxing massages. It was created at the end of ‘60s, when the USA was involved in the cruel war in Vietnam. That period was full of mourning and endless tragedies, and in US society new trends started to appear much more clearly, like protection, need, comfort, peace, tenderness, faith in life, and no possessive love. At Esalen Institute, in South California, some therapists invented a new massage, called Esalen Massage. This is a very harmonious massage, which uses large, movements that “embrace and wrap” the person, to make him feel welcomed and accepted. This type of massage insists on the concept of “contact and rotation”, privileging the therapeutic process that will lead the user to his  full fillment. Technically, it uses a lot of manipulation: touch, pull, vibration, kneading, local pressure, sliding pressure, friction, rocking, stretching, duckbill and pinching, extremely fluid techniques, which stimulate breathing and other vital functions, giving an extraordinary sensation of well being. It is both energetic and relaxing because it releases muscle tensions and opens and harmonizes the whole body. It’s a relaxing gestalt massage par excellence.

The Ayurveda term comes from Veda, that means “knowledge” and from Ayu, that means “life”, so Ayurveda means “life knowledge”, or rather the art of good living. The Ayurvedic history began in Vedic period around 5000 b.C. Abyangam is part of discipline, medicine, philosophy and ayurvedic art (abyangam literally means massage). Midhiabyangam, è un massaggio Ayurverdico Anti-Vata e Anti-Kapha che consiste in pressioni,
scrollamenti, strofinamenti brevi e lunghi, della durata massima di un'ora. In questa tecnica si usano tradizionalmente i piedi (ma anche le mani). Il massaggio quattro mani è un trattamento eseguito con l'olio che prevede la doppia manualità armonizzata di due operatori, che creano un flusso ritmico rilassante e continuo a tempo di musica. Il massaggio a quattro mani amplifica notevolmente l'effetto del massaggio a due mani, creando un intenso effetto di rilassamento e benessere. Body on Body is an holistic treatment. It’s the fusion between Tantra Massage and Traditional Body Massage, performed body on body. The massage therapist uses his whole oiled body like a massage tool. He begins a slowly massage, deep and enveloping, and in this way the patient reaches an high level of relax and pleasure. They are used all the Tantra techniques, including feathers, fabric, and hot oil. The Body on Body Massage is carried out only on the floor on the futon and it isn’t absolutely a therapeutic massage, but it aims exclusively to the pleasure and pure relax. For obvious reasons this massage will not be performed on older people, or people with physical or mental disablement. This type of massage is performed exclusively to one person at a time, so it’s not possible ask for this massage as a simultaneous couple treatment, it can only be performed alternately.
